The label started by Philip Lim and his partner Wen Zhou in 2005 was called Phillip Lim 3.1 as its launch corresponded with his 31st birthday. Philip Lim studied at California State University at Long Beach before working as a design assistant and then creative director and co-founder of Development for Katayone Adeli. He then went on to set up his eponymous label 3.1 Phillip Lim.
Phillip Lim usually designs his clothes and accessories such as handbags by using the shapes, colours and textures from the world around him. His work has been described by Laird Borrelli of Vogue "pretty-but-cool clothes" that "don't try too hard".
He first showed on the catwalk in 2007, when his collection earned him recognition from Vogue editors despite problems with the lighting. His collections combine a real skill for tailoring and a fresh street look that feels so right for today's women.
He uses luxurious fabrics and intricate details such as hand stitching which make each piece of clothing special and memorable. He has a way of making each piece look unique although he keeps the styles very simple. He uses couture like techniques on his pret a porter collection. 3.1 Phillip Lim is definitely a label that will continue to attract fans.

If you have a round, apple shaped figure, then you can go with a shorter 3.1 Phillip Lim skirt. A flare style will look better on you than a mini skirt.
